levels & mixing  Reply with quote

is it true when mixing you want your faders at 0 or higher? i've heard that you should use the trims to set level. i've heard your not utilizing all the bits when your faders are low. Question Question

Trimming  Reply with quote

It is considered more practical to have the faders "dancing" around 0. The reason being you then have set-up the signal path for what is known as unity gain , the normal level. Then for the mix you can add or subtract.

For instance if you have to push the fader up to the top of its position it makes more send to simply "trim" the input gain pot and re-zero.
