Reinforcing Tap dancers & Orchestra
Hi there,
I hope i'm in the correct section and there is someone out there who can help me out.
I work as technician to a school music department and we are about to put on 42nd Street as our annual school production. If your not aware of the show its obviouosly a musical which is tap dance based.
Here's my problem - I'm not 100% sure how best to achieve the reinforcement of the sound of the tap dancers coupled with the reinforcement of the Singers and orchestra..
My budget is obviuosly limited seeing as we are a school but i have a reasonable selection of mics, such as:
4 x akg rifle mics
3 x C1000's
2 x rode nt5 (matched pair)
4 x overheads (suspended from stage ceiling)
A number of dynamics (57's & 58's) and a couple of large dia condensers
The lead roles will all be fitted with radio mics so there is no need to worry about speech / vocal reinforcemnt but i was just concerend about reinforcing the tapping and orchestra on a limited ammount of mics and budget. I wanted to achieve that west end sound but am worried its going to sound like pople tapping on cardbord smothered in feedback.
Could anyone point me in the right direction of suggeested placements etc!
