Which recording software will be good  Reply with quote

i'm having a problem choosing which software to use for recording good vocals.i want a software that does not need super high pc speed to function and which can support dxi clients.
For now i'd like to use protools as my host and adobe audition as my client but i'm still confused if this is a good combination.
i need suggestions.
thanks

not important.  Reply with quote

The software makes no difference as long as it is of a certain file format suh as 16bit 44.1kHz.

You should look at microphones for importance of vocals, software is merely about ways of working really.

PICK AND CHOOSE YOUR SOFTWARE.....  Reply with quote

Im Using A Neumann TLM103 Micorphone to Record my Vocals now,but I use to have a cheap radio shack Dynamic 33-3024 mic. and use to run it through a yamaha mg16/6fx mixer into Sonar2 then Id use Antares MicModular v1.0 to change the sound of the mic and you really couldnt tell the diffrence between a radio shack mic and a Neumann(all models loaded in Antares Mic Modular).its basically what you can afford.if your a good music studio engineer or producer there are some programs that are real cheap that you problably couldnt tell what you recorded your music on...if your a good engineer....... Right now im Running Sonar 4 with every plug in on the planet (which i dont need, but when in Rome).then export all audio into Sequoia V8.1 and thats where the real magic begins(mixdown and mastering). so like i said its basically your preference and affordability.let me know if you need some tips.....................

While the Antares Mic Modeller can work sometimes, I'm afraid it can never replace a real U87 ot a TLM103. There is a reason why there are studios that exist which cost millions of dollars to build and equip. While a project studio can get you somewhere it does have its limits. However good the engineer is he/she can't work beyond the limits set by his/her tools.

And your sequencer/DAW/mixing-mastering-recording software will effect the sound only if it has some serious coding problems, most software that is payed for today seems to work quite transparently. While they may sound 'different' while working I feel a mix out of Nuendo or a mix out of Pro Tools doesn't have an audible difference.

And as mentioned, the software is just that tool that helps you work. So chose something that you are comfortable with and also something that helps you work effectively.

And, naisg - didn't really understand what you meant by "For now i'd like to use protools as my host and adobe audition as my client ".
I personally use most of the major DAWs - it depends on the work and the work environment I'm in. But personally I prefer Pro Tools for editing and mixdown and Logic for sequencing/programming.
