Orange Group

- Civil rights act
- Voting the same for blacks and whites
- Million man march (MLK)
- Bob Dylan the voice of people
- Help wipe out communists in Vietnam
- People called up did not know / agree with the reasons for the war
- Music used as a way of protesting
- Public Enemy, Chuck D, the Black CNN.

Green Group

- Music used to convey messages of anti-war
- David Crosby
- Sang by people whose lives were on the line
- People were seeking comfort
- Brought communities together
- Opened doors for new talent

Yellow Group

- Baby boom (kids of the 50’s)
- 50’s rock running out of ideas
- Psycadellic music aided by drugs
- Songs such as Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (LSD)
- Black musicians had smoked dope, and Jimi Hendrix promoted this
- 400,000 hippies descended on Woodstock Festival.

Red Group

- Hegemony is the dominance of one group over another
- Bob Dylan and Bob Marley were protesting against the government.
- Controversial Music. “Man of Peace” fortells the cominvg of Satan
- Music more effective at reaching people than violence
