| what i need to produce higher quality hiphop/music on PC? |

Need some advice for what would be the best investment (see subject)? Currently music is composed, edited and mastered with Steinberg/Pinnacle Cubasis VST; and recordings and audio samples are handled and manipulated by WaveLab in conjunction with Cubasis. There are some other programs that came with Cubasis (such as Easy Guitar, and some other VST instruments)
The biggest drawback is the quality of the MIDI instruments in the Universal Sound Module. They are quite poor and do not really sound too much like the instruments they represent. I would like to be able to compose higher quality music with the MIDI instruments, what exactly would be needed? New VST instrument plugins?
It is mostly for hiphop music so better, clearer sounding bass and sub-bass instruments would be good; but the music also involves a lot of composure and so still inclusion of typical orchastraic instruments is needed (but much better sounding than those in the Universal Sound Module)
So, what is needed to achieve this? If new VST instruments for Cubasis are needed what would be best and where can i get them? Cheers |

Well for starters you could move onto something like Cubase SX3 if finances permit you to do so and more importantly if you really want to raile the level of your production quality a few nothes higher. It would definately be a worth while investment. Also moving on to Cubase SX would give you greater operational flexibility and the ability to use better quality VST(i).
Hypersonic, Hypersonic 2, the lm 7 are just some of the VSTs which have a decent sound quality that you could use to make elements in your production sound better.
......and veering slightly off topic also make sure you have a good set of monitors while your mixing (the Alesis M1 Active MK2 would do nicely for hip - hop).
Hope this helps!
