| DONE BY DELL ? |
|
|
I have noticed that some members have recently purchased Dell computers.
We've recently purchased one.I'd like to point out to anyone considering buying one that YOU DO NOT GET A HARD COPY OF WINDOWS WHEN YOU PURCHASE A COMPUTER FROM DELL(even though i paid for XP).I feel Dell do not make this clear when purchasing from them-in fact I feel ripped off!I've also noticed on their special offers that there is a picture of the computer on offer with a flat screen monitor. However when looking in more detail at the offer you will in fact receive a good ol' CRT monitor-isn't that false advertising?
Does any one else feel 'done by dell'? |

HI.
I don't think it is just DELL, in fact I think it is "standard" now when buying a branded machine. _________________ It's all in the ears. - Learn the concepts not the software.

Apart from the fact that we (branded pc consumers) are buying an OS thats only on the computer, won't the long term effect be, more people using windows cracks on their branded pcs?If people have already paid for an OS they probably won't feel guilty about using a crack when a reinstall is required.maybe if we all complained about this , companies might change this rather devious ways?! |

NO, and no disrespect here Will, but people who buy a branded PC, would not be the type of person (generally, yourself
ex
cluded) to seek cracked software.
Typically Dixsons or PC World PCs would appeal to Mr Jones with point 1.3 kids, not the type of tech savy who goes after cracks. That's probably a big generalisation but I figure not far from truth.
Also I can't imagine windows being bothered as the company Microsoft would have sold a version to the brand itself in the first place, added to this in order to get updates from MS, there is now a winows validation tool which checks for validity before allowing updates. _________________ It's all in the ears. - Learn the concepts not the software.

Points taken, however it is my opinion that tech savys' will buy made up pc's and modify them because they are so cheap to buy.In fact before we made the purchase from Dell I asked a very tech savy mate if he could make up a pc for us he said no-because he would not be able to compete with the brand systems prices.
It just seems to me that all these consumer products that we buy are dumbed down more and more- nobody takes a stand against them, therefore the vicious circle continues...Don't mention pc world again or i'll go right off on one! |
