soundcard problems never ends  Reply with quote

Finally!!! I got rid of my Creative Audigy and now I am planning to buy a new one. But as all of my work will depend on it so I got a bit paranoid and now I am helpless as I cannot decide which one to buy. I wont mic any vocals or drums. All I need is to connect a midi keyboard, a guitar and two monitor speakers. Any advice, idea, suggestions...

P.S.Sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes!!

Your Budget..  Reply with quote

Whats your budget?

You could try M-Audio , the lower models are decent enough for your set up.

Audiophile 192  Reply with quote

You could try the Audiophile 192 . It costs around $200 and i think it should be good enough for what you want to do..

Simple Setup  Reply with quote

I dont record music onto my PC, I import from an Alesis HD24 so i didnt need many inputs, and had a tight budget, similar to your situation. So I bought an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 and a Soundcraft compact 4 mixer. This set-up works great, all i had to do was make up a few good quality jack to phono etc. leads. The Compact 4 is great for monitoring and great value for money.

I got all of this for well under £200. Im sure you could do the same on your budget.

Check it out

No MIDI I/O on 44  Reply with quote

Considering what you want to do, the Delta 44 wouldn't do you much good because it doesn't have a MIDI I/O. The 24/96 does have slightly better specs and only two inputs. I think this should be okay..

article on soundcard  Reply with quote

hi,

other people have given you good advice in this thread.
Just to add my 2p - first have a read of our article on soundcard choice here.

The Audiophile is a good choice for the money, as is the Echo Mia Midi . Recently the Emu cards have been getting good press due to the high quality preamps found on certain cards (those with the 'M' suffix if i remember correctly) However I'm unsure of your location so can't determine if these products fall within your price range.

Keep us posted!

Hi there...I'm new(as user) to this forum...but I have a problem with my sound recording that really blew my mind for over 1 year..And it goes like that : I own a decent mixer, a Behringer UB1202FX, a very decent dynamic mic(I'm receving a condenser Studio Projects this month though) and a laptop(quite healthy one). But every time I try to record any signal(mostly voice) from my mixer to my soundcard(onboard), I always get a naughty, mizerable hiss along with my recording. Not a normal hiss, actually pink noise and I tried to remove it with several processors like X-Noise from Waves, the embeded processor in GoldWave etc. But this treatment just ruins the dynamics of my voices. And most of all why the f**k can't I record like normal people do?!

But that ain't all..I bought this laptop one month ago..but when I tried to record through my old computer(desktop, good CPU,still onboard soundcard) before buying the laptop, I always got the same results..It's just driving me insane, I can't make a record because of that.

Some big help here, thanks..
