Drum pad  Reply with quote

Might not be the right forum, but it's closest I could find.

I am looking for some sort of Drum pad thing, that I could use live with my laptop and Reason. My firend has this pad thing he got a long time ago, and it has around 7 pads on it, which are velocity sensitive. Essentially its liek an electronic drum kit, but it does need to be designed liek a drum kit, just a square shaped area with pads on it would do. I want to have samples in reason and trigger them by playing them with my sticks. I have seen what you can do iwth it, and its really exciting and interesting for live shows and stuff.

I have no idea where to find or what exactly im looking for.

Hopefully someone can help!

Cheers

Thanks thats got me on the right track.

I should have mentioned that it would need to be MIDI triggered, to work with say, the NN-XT sampler in Reason. Ie assign samples from the sampler in reason to a one of the pads. I am not really interested in presets or ones that have sounds already built in. But its probably likely that most of them come with these anyway.

Cheers

Well the Yamaha DD55 is a nice drum pad. But i'm not sure it's velocity sensitive. Having played on it i would say it's pretty decent. It's got some nice drum tones. Plus this one says it has MIDI outs which is good for for you since you want to trigger tones off reason. If you are planning to look for a cheaper option you could also try the Yamaha TP65S. It's a single pad with multiple triggering zones. So you could probably trigger, say, 3 different tones off just a single pad....and if you have about 3 of these it should suffice......and all for the price of a Yamaha DD55.
