found a couple of kool websites taht I thought i should mention.
the first one - http://www.last.fm - is a lil site that uploads the names of ur tracsk u play in itunes/winamp etc and records them in a list. then it is able to recommend artists that u may like based on what u listen to. it also recommends threads in forums on the site that may be interesting. it also has some radio thing that does the same sorta thing, though i aint worked that out yet. all in all, i really suggest u check it out.
secondly, not long after i had signed up to last.fm, my friens give me a link to another site that does the same sorta thing. http://www.pandora.com/ - except basically u put in an artist, and it begins to show u other artists that have the same characteriscits. its pretty dam nifty, and i ahve came accross some great bands with it already lol. u can also create ur own personal readio station, and the streaming is really amazing. teh site isi part of the genome project - http://www.pandora.com/mgp.shtml - quite interesting.
so what u all think about this new generation of sites. basically its a god send for DJs that look for new music and that, or does it take away some of the "art" in finding great artists? any anyone got accounts on these sites? |
