| Rendering to wav files with fl studio |
|
|
I work with fl studio 5, when i make any kind of loop with drums then adding instruments and so on, i render it to a wav file and put it on a cd and when i play it on a cd player or stereo system almost everything sounds terrible. For example, I made a song and I cant hardly hear my instruments, my hats are way too loud and my kick drums are not even noticable when the actual bassline comes in. When I play it in fl studio it sound fine but when i put it on a cd everything doesnt sound as clear? Why is that? Is it becuse my effects and prossecors are not acuratly placed or properly used? Do I need to learn to properly use fx's and processors so my music sound good on any cd player i play my music on? Any feedback or suggestions appreciated. |

Welcome to the world of mixing
You have answered your questions yourself! Learning to mix well and to have a result that is playable in a range of environments comes with experience and it is something that you simply get better at over time. And yes, it does take good understanding of your effects and processors and how they translate and affect your sound when played back over a 'consumer' setup. You need to understand your monitoring setup and should be able to judge how your mix will turn out when played else where.
Just keep mixing and you will be fine! Maybe you could move on to softwares that are built specifically for mixing and editing.
And try reading 'The Art of Mixing' and even Paul White's book on 'Creative Recording'. These books will open up the mixing world for you.. |

Depends what you mean by 'production type softwares'. Most softwares nowadays can be used to produce, record and mix music - using both MIDI and Audio.
Options include - Pro Tools, Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, Logic.. these are the more well known ones. Pro Tools has been an industry standard for a while but Logic and Nuendo are being used widely too...
Try out Nuendo/Cubase/Sonar if you can, with the help of a manual and some experimenting yourself you can pick it up pretty quick. |

and to be honest, fl has a mixer built into it (i'm sure you know this already). i'd advise to try to get the best mix possible through that mixer first. after you've done that and export it, you can then mix it in whatever program you choose to mix it with. personally i always try to get the best mix possible inside fl first b4 i export it out
yep yep |

THE FL STUDIO MIXER Is a great mixer.
I opperate "FL STUDIO 6" and I use the FL MIXER for all my mixing (and even use FL for mastering too!!!)
Alot of people dislike FL STUDIO and think it is a bad program however,... If you learn to use it PROPERLY,... it can work wonders!!!
I seem to get GREAT results that NO ONE complains about with using the FL STUDIO MIXER... If you purchased FL STUDIO you can go to their website and watch tutorials on how to use the FL MIXER and other features on FL STUDIO.
**I DONT RECORD VOCALS IN FL STUDIO OR EDIT MY VOCALS IN FL STUDIO,... BUT I DO MASTER IN FL STUDIO**
I would recommend that if you use FL studio,... LEARN HOW TO USE THE ENTIRETY OF THE SOFTWARE,... you will fall in love.
stay blessed

Hi all,
i just started working with fl studio 5, i've done some stuff and i wanted to hear it in itunes or windows media player for example.
When i save in fl studio, it only opens with it, i would like to make it a wav file, i've read the manual but i'm so stupid i cant understand. I put the record switch, start the song, i do my magic bla bla bla... the song ends, well...where is the file or what happened?
Please answer me this is really getting in my nerves |
