chorus  Reply with quote

Im recording a girl who can really sing but cant harmonize and im not sure how to tell her to sing it so that the chorus has that smooth 3 part harmony sound. Im not sure how to use pitch shift but if anybody can tell me any techniques like panning, or singing techniques i can tell her that would help would be great. Thanks

If she cannot harmonise she cannot harmonise, you can try using a pitch shifter by duplicating the track and raising or lowering the pitch to fit, but it would be far better to teach her the part she needs to sing.

Get a keyboard and work out and play the original line on it to her, then start to work out the harmonised parts you want, and have her learn those line to sing. - that's how I operate.

Well that is just preference, there are no ruels with this mixing game, you use your ears and settle on what you like, if someone doesn't like that who cares?

Panning is the same, put them where you like. There are some typically panning mixing techniques used in certain genres but basically again you ue your ears and settle when happy.

I suppose the main line would be the loudest and the harmonised lines lower, particularly the third, if you use that.

It's worth you learning some music theory if you do not understand what a third is.

Yeah this thread is about "Chorus" and specifically, vocal harmonies, not general help. As your work doesn't currently contain that it is not relevant here.

Go ahead and post in the music station for general feedback on it.

It is important we keep threads on topic here, as the fourms are so large.

Thanks

I understand that you’re trying to keep things on topic however the work I posted does have chorus and if you get past the rap you would see that the song that was in question from the beginning of this topic is on that site, which to me does make it relevant. All I was looking for Mr "AUdIoCoUrSeS" was help in putting together the "Chorus"
