Hi,

Cubase is a large programme and learning it can take a long time.
Although we can give you advice on these forums, we can't really take you through every feature in Cubase as it would take a very long time!

To get you started I'd have a look at the tutorial DVDs on offer from this company;
http://www.askvideo.com/

This should give you a good grounding in the software.

Let us know how you get on!

Hi,

yes the DVDs are good, well worth buying or renting.

In answer to your question, I guess I've been working with music for about 12 years in one form or another.
Nowadays I do a bit of everything - composing, production, mixing, engineering etc When working with other people or composing for radio/TV you have to work in all styles from Brass Bands to 80s Hair Metal!

I had a good look at AskVideo Cubase Training and they're the worst I've ever seen. Embarassed They show the program too quick like moving the mouse around too fast and also click one program after another too quickly. It seems like the training videos are only suitable for the ones who knows abit about Cubase.
Don't recommend Rolling Eyes

woah....

I certainly wouldn't say they are the worst that I've ever seen!
I didn't think they went through things particularly quickly although I guess that is subjective. Of course, as the DVDs are broken down into topics and subtopics, it is easy to go back and watch a particular one again if you feel you missed something.

What I personally like about the ASK series is that they are very comprehensive and cover most of the functions in SX. You do get 8hrs of tutorial which is a lot of information!

deafo - which Cubase tutorials have you found useful?

Ever thought of reading the user guide? Well, it doesn't look too friendly I agree, but I feel its really worth it. Videos will help too..

The most useful I've seen in video was "Cubase SX 3 - Know It All" from Digital Music Doctor. I guess their interface are much more simplier. But I prefer reading ebook like "Cubase SX 3 Igite!" in pdf file and also "Cubase SX-SL 3 Power" If any of you would like to have a copy of these pdf files, then I'll be happy to upload 'em for you. They're only 11 mb in size each Wink

Should mention that the books you have mentioned are publications which need to be bought, and passing on these pdfs is a form of piracy! Wink
