It`s very interesting how they behave in space.
On an apropriate PA sys xou get an intense auditorial and physical feeling that is minimal at extreme L and R position and gradualtes from to the center. In order to get this effect on wider area you haveto position the PA sys away from the people. If you are using constant basic freq. (dtmf or other generated tone) and Mics watch those EQs for feedback.

The efects of the binaural waves are well explored (used fot psychologic stimulation, therapy, meditation, even warefare) and are concidered to be a strong tool for mental manipulation on a very basic level, especialy combined with other audio, visual or/and sensual impulses or sublimal messages.

By my experience it certanly can bring you in a very intense (determinated) feeling.
And we sooner or later get to the question of moral or illegal abuse!

Binaural beats and inaural recordings  Reply with quote

Hi there Vanhool!
I was talking about binaural recordings.. the recordings made with a dummy head with microphones placed in its modelled ears.
But yeah, binuaral beats are a very interesting area too and I've done some experimenting myself.

Greetings Conquistadore!
Sorry for wonderring off in the previous post. I wasn`t shure myself but i just took a shot. Anyway Binaural beats are also a nice a nice aspect of sound to explore (but not too much Shocked )

Anyway, about the Binaural recordings:
I believe that they are a great tool for ambient recordings.
You get a great stereo image and definition of space all around you.
You can have probems with noise, specialy on set recording (cameras, lights, crew,...)
The front and back center of ambient is max off axis therefore you get bad definition of center (F/R).

Personaly i don`t have eperiences with binaural recordings, so the statments above are only my conclousions and are verry opened for discussion..
