Can only get one midi track sound going  Reply with quote

Gee, I have no idea how to get the sound from more than one midi tracks going. I can successfully record the first midi track with my keyboard with Steinberg Hypersonic but when I recorded the second midi track, the meter is moving which mean the cubase knows theres some sound from keyboard but no sound from speakers Shocked I did the output for Hypersonic which I did with the first midi track but no luck. I even turn the monitor button off (the one that looks like a speaker) I've checked the mixer and the meter is moving with the sound but cannot hear the track. Any idea? thanx in advance

MIDI, Hypersonic and Cubase  Reply with quote

Your post was a bit confusing! From what I understand you want to play off tones (sounds) from Hypersonic using your keyboard right? So what you are doing is recording MIDI from your keyboard (which means you are just recording what keys/notes you play on the keyboard and not the actual sound from the your keyboard) and these MIDI messages inturn trigger sounds from Hypersonic.

When you create a MIDI track in Cubase you will notice a few things assigned in your inspector window - MIDI input, MIDI output and MIDI Channel number (Ch.No). If you open Hypersonic you will notice that you can assign 16 different kinds of tones and each of these tones are triggered through a specific MIDI channel. Eg: MIDI channel 1 triggers Patch assignment 1, Channel 2 triggers patch assignment 2..etc..

When you create multiple MIDI tracks in Cubase, each track is assigned one of the 16 MIDI channels. So in your case, if you are trying to trigger off the same tone from Hypersonic with both your MIDI tracks you would have to change the MIDI channel number of your second track to 1 too..

That must be the problem i guess..
