Sorry if this question is answered elsewhere, didn't see... I'm new to home recording, I have a four track cassette recorder which needs to be mixed down to a 2 track, can I use my regular cassette deck for this mix down. I'm not all familiar yet with the ins and outs, thanks for answering... |

you can mix down TO your cassette deck yes, your deck probably has an aux input or a "REC" input to record to, just connect the outs of the mixer to the inputs of the cassette, dont expect very good quality though, but as you are recording onto cassette already it shouldnt have too much effect, just use a good new tape. _________________ If In Doubt...Hit It With a Hammer, If Still In Doubt... Well you 4 track recorder should also have 4 outputs. you could take these outputs onto a board, mix it the way you like and have the final LR from the desk running into a 2 track recorder. What i've said here is "basically" what need to be done. To tell you exactly i would need to know which recorder (4 track) you are using. |

Mixing from 4 track cassette to 2 track cassette is a pretty noisy way to go. It would be better doing it in a PC with an audio editor. Suggests FlexiMusic Audio Editor. Then burn it to CD.

I agree Mary...going from the 4 track to a 2 track would be pretty noisy way to record stuff you have.
But it's the easiest way i think...and having all the 4 outs from the recorrder run into a bord and then the LR into the two trck is probably the "esiest way" considering we haven't been given specs of the 4 track recorser (which is why i suggested having the 4 outs of the recorder going into a board)
Alternately if the 4 track recorder had digital outs what you said about dumping stuff on the computer would make perfect sense.
Also, assuming that you have the bare minimum stuff on a computer (like a single audio in provided via an ep connector on the on board sound card) it would be a real drag to play every track individually and have it recorded onto a software and then mix.
But i huess there are a lot of ways to do the same thing!
It would be nice if Latisha could provide the specs of this 4 track recorder, then maybe someone could suggest the "ideal method" for this transfer. |
