Pro Tools with Delta 10/10  Reply with quote

Hello,

do someone of you know how to use Pro Tools LE7(with Mbox2) but with another soundcard in order to have more inputs (like the Delta 10/10)?

Thanks

Tommy

As far as i know Knoedel, this would only be possible if you were using Tools M-Powered. as pro tools talks to the Mbox using a piece of software called CoreAudio. which is also what allows all the other programs to talk to the Mbox. however coreaudio afaik currently only supports one card at a time.

the only alternative to the crossgrade to m-powered would be to use the digital input on the mbox to add more tracks.

Hi Knoedel, welcome to the ACF!

As Paul said, M-Powered would be the only way. OS X does support multiple sound interfaces but Pro Tools, being what it is, will refuse to accept anything other than its own hardware..

Hmm.. I dont think that would work Paul. Rewire isnt built to run off two different sound interfaces. If something is a Rewire slave to Pro Tools, all it does is 'sends' the audio to Pro Tools, which comes out through the DAE and off the sound interface. So its just like running another program within the Pro Tools environment.

Also Rewire just allows transport, timing and MIDI information to pass from the Master to the Slave.and the slave just passes back audio information.

I remember reading an article in an old SOS issue about a software for OSX that helps wire different audio apllications together - like how one can manually wire different hardware units together. Will look for that article and get back..

About Windows XP, I'm not sure if such software exists/can be supported..

This is the software that lets you connect different audio apps together. It also interestingly comes as AU and VST versions - which gives limitless routing possibilities. But I'm afraid when it comes to Pro Tools we are still stuck. Unles its possible for some other software that supports AU/VST to run off the Delta and then route those outputs into Pro Tools using the VST to RTAS adaptor. But who'd do such a thing? Might as well record eveything on that software and export to Pro Tools..
