| erratic playback.....soundcard or PC??? |
|
|
Hi all, I'm back again! OK.....so....been doing some recording, finally got the ole' E-MU 1820 all cozy and working, all 16 tracks going strong, got a pretty good handle on working with Mackie Traction, and have recorded a few things with the band, (which is good, because I don't think they ever thought they would see the day).......here's the current problem.
Right now I am using Audition 1.5 for editing software, and suddenly, while playing a session, it will skip erratically, like when you try to listen to music on a dial up connection.
The PC I am using is dedicated to this studio, and pretty new, it is a Dell 5150 (from the spec sheet).....P4 630 3.0 GHZ 1GB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHZ
2X512MB DIM.M
soundcard is straight from E-MU.
Is this a soundcard issue or bad software??? It seems as though I should have plenty of PC power, as I said this PC is new and has very very little on it.
Although the band is losing confidence in the home studio idea........I just know there's a way through this!!! ???????? |

| Buffer size |

Hello again!
Dont worry, all is not lost!
You would have to look into the buffer size in Audition. I'm afraid it must be too low (like 128 samples). Increase it to around 1024 and you should be fine (use larger buffer sizes during mixdown/editing and lower buffer sizes during recording.
