Using Evolution UC33 with Cubase sx3  Reply with quote

Hello!

I`m having some problems with connecting uc33 with Cubase.
I bought a second hand UC33 and it has deleted/reseted presets.
I get midi in Cubase without any problems, but i cant find a way to assign midi channels to (let`s say mixer).
I could program UC`s outputs, but i dont know on wich channels Cubase mixer would respond.

Does anybody have some experience with this connection, I searched for midimaps for UC but didnt find anything usefull.

So, what to try?

Tnx in advance!

Manually asign controls?  Reply with quote

I dont think its a problem with the drivers. Since the presets are missing, the controller wont know what MIDI messages would have to be assigned to each control so that it would work with Cubase. You could try manually assigning each control with a particular MIDI message (Mod Wheel, Volume, RPN messages, etc..etc..) and then going to the device manager in Cubase adding in a new controller and then assigning each of those MIDI messages to a particular control in Cubase. It would be quite painful to do this though!!

You could try e-mailing M-Audio support, and in the meanwhile I'll have a look at the manual when I'm free and see what can be done.

Fresh drivers were firs thing i tried, no use.

I googled up
-UC-33 SX2Multichannel and channel strip,
-UC-33 VST Multichannel and channel strip
-UC-33 cubaseSX2
They are all xml files, but i cannot importing them in any logical menu/dialog in Cubase sx3.
Althow they are for sx2 i think the channel assignment is the same and shouldn`t be a problem.
Any hints?

Yes, but it so happens the presets cannot be loaded back on to the UC33. Check the SOS review
here .

Vanhool, that XML file would have to be imported into the 'Generic Devices' menu. (Devices>Device Setup>Generic Deivces)

But that XML file would work only if you could load the Cubase preset on the UC 33. So right now the only way would be to open up the XML file using a simple text editor (Notepad, Word Pad, Text Edit) and see what messages have been assigned to each control in Cubase and then you would have to mirror it on the UC 33. Or you could import the XML into the Generic Devices menu and see whats assigned to what there (easier this way I guess, as you would be able to edit assignments also).
