M-Audiophile 192 "PROBLEMS!!!"  Reply with quote

Hi Everyone
Im having a problem with a new M-Audiophile 192 soundcard, which i purchased for a new Mac G5 i have,(please be gentle as im a complete novice when it comes to Mac Embarassed ) heres the g5 info to help.

Machine name: Power Mac G5
Machine Model : PowerMac 7.2
CPU Type : PowerMac 970 (2.2)
Number of CPUs 2
CPU speed 2 Ghz
L2 Cache (per Cpu) 512 KB
Memory 3GB
Bus Speed 1 Ghz
Boot Rom Version 5.1.4fo
serial no ......(shouldnt need this

Problem started when i inserted the card all fine
card came with free PRO TOOLs M-Powered (the software i have oreded to use when it arrives!!) it also came with live lite which works fine,
Also i have installed logic pro (which again reads the card and works fine!!)

however the demo version of Pro Tools 7 installs but when i click on the icon at the bottom of the mac screen i get " Unable to locate M-Audio hardware.Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on,?????

now i know that m-audio has a few compatability with certain G5 (intel and so on)
but ive been to their web site and checked ,and looking at the list i think it is compatable??( but then i am a novice with macs??)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone help me out as i have allready purchased Pro Tools M-Powered and am awaiting delivery just have to check it is COMPATABLE Sad

Thankyou very much in advance...................

M-Audio Drivers  Reply with quote

Firstly the 192 IS compatible with pro tools M-powered, so it should work.

have you been to the M-audio website and downloaded the latest drivers? its important that you get the latest drivers as they will have been updated to work with M-powered.

Also there is a key you can hold down when you start pro tools that stops coreaudio drivers from loading and disables the audio ability of pro tools so you can troubleshoot it, whether this is true with M-powered versions i dont know. however i cant for the life of me remember what the shortcut for that is. hopefully someone else here will know.

So really start by getting the newest drivers then come back if it still doesnt work.

Thanks for the advice, i did try updating the driver no joy Embarassed
i have read many articles on pro tools, & they all say without the ILOCK key pro tools wont work????

the version im trying to run is the demo version which came with my audiophile 192 soundcard, but surley a demo version should work without the ilok key??(if not whats the point of suppying the disk in the first place??) i thought it was try before you buy??

Please if someone can shed some light i would be very gratefull, Embarassed

Which version of M-Powered is it? Make sure its the newset version (7.3) or make sure you download the CS updates from the Digidesign website.
