| 410 and Firebox |

Hi Sean, welcome to the forums!
The Firebox isnt a bad option at all! Its small, handy, optionally bus powered and therefore very portable - great if you have a laptop and if you are looking for a portable setup. But I dont see why it shouldnt work great even if its just sitting on your desk. I havent used this particular interface, but I have used the Presonus Pre (single 'tube' preamp) and i was very impressed with its quality - for its price. I have heard conflicting opinions about the preamps in the Firebox - some say they are noisy and some say they are noiseless! Wouldnt know until I try it out myself.
The 410 isnt a bad option either, though its slightly more expensive. An advantage with the Firebox is that you get Cubase LE, so you can start working right away. But the 410 supports Pro Tools M-Powered, so if you do go in for it you will have the option to use Pro Tools with just the extra cost of buying the software.
I'd go in for the 410, because of the added advantage of Pro Tools compatibility - but thats because I like working on Pro Tools.
It really depends on what you are planning to do.. |

thanks alot, I stumbled across the site last night while looking how to side chain, really cool site, will def be sticking around.
thanks a lot for your comments. i ended up going with the Fire box (just waiting for stock) because ive heard lots of problems with the 410 also the firebox beats the 410 spec for spec according to the guy at the store, as for protools i cannot nearly afford a mac so its Cubase and Reason for now. Ill let you know how it is when i get it, should be this week some time |

Yeah, do let us know what you think of the Firebox.
And Pro Tools also runs on PCs - on Windows too, it isnt Mac exclusive. |

Well i got my Presonus firebox and i must say its very nice for its price, I noticed a immidiate change in sound quality, everything about it says quality, what i noticed is that it runs quite hot but this is due to the a-class amps inside, so nothing to really worry abouy. definatly would recomend this product for a mid level budget |
