Need help in vocals mixing  Reply with quote  

hey I have Cubase SE and i am having great difficulty getting nice main verse vocals...I seen on te television that it is ood to have 3 main vocals playing at the same time but i tried that and it sound loud and cluttered. I need help to get that nice sound that i hear on many rap/hip hop songs..... please help

Dunno where you heard that 3 was good -
IF you're doing Hip Hop, well that's not my area of expertise, but I would start by compressing your main vocal 3 or 4 to 1 ratio, set the attack fairly fast and the release fairly slow (see if your plugin has any presets for vocals). That will tend to bring your main vocal up front in the mix. You might want to experiment with some reverb, but use an short decay time. If you have additional vox, pan them right and left, but leave the main vocal front and center. Your backing vocals should be at a lesser volume (usually).
