Mixing down  Reply with quote

Okay I just went out and got a audio technica AT3035 and fast track pro.

And I dunno it's not sounding right...like i dunno could it be my sound card? or maybe cause i don't have a preamp? cuz the fast track pro has built in pre's and i heard that's not to good....or maybe im just mixing it down wrong...like my vocals don't sound like there mixed into the song...they just sound like there layed onnnnn the instrumental.

Is there any tutorials for mixing like really in depth good ones.

Can you put up a link to hear a demo of what you are talking about? Also, I have heard nothing but bad reviews about that fast track pro...but thats just hearsay...browse through this forum, there's plenty of good knowledge here...

yeah this forum looks pretty helpfull, what is the main thing that blends your vocals into the song...Like i do hiphop so i understand it is probably a lil different than using instruments. I've been looking for some tutorials but can't seem to find any good ones.

Not the chorus, that was done by some compleatly different equipment by some other guy. I'm talking about the verses, they sound kinda like there just layed on top of the beat Sad

Also is adobe better than cool edit?

Any mixing/mastering tutorials would be awesome I know there are some out there I just can't find them

Pocketing and Delay  Reply with quote

Hi Dlink

Took a listen to that song, first thing is the vocals sound a little rushed, i know thats the style of the music in a way, but you might want to attempt to pocket those vocals against the beat. Pocketing is when you carefully edit the track to pull it tighter into time, sort of like a midi quantize for live audio. just google that and you will find plenty of tutorials.

RE: Adobe vs Cool Edit. Personally i use cool edit over audition, ive used both extensively and find adobe tried to add too much, however cool edit is really a stereo file editor not a multi track mixer. look at something like cubase, nuendo, logic etc, for full scale multi-track production.

Also, have a play with the settings on the delay on the vocals, try to tempo sync the delay if you can, or either turn it down so its less audible, or turn it up more to make it a more defined effect depending on what u want to achieve.

hope that helps a little.

I'm pretty much just wondering why i have to keep turning my fast track pro off and on for it to work...

I'll record it will be fine, then all of a sudden when i try to record again it will pick up static so ill turn it off and then turn it back on and then it works fine again?
