Rock Snare  Reply with quote

Hi stefan.

Id agree with calipso about the low end, the kick drum especially is lacking thud but the click is nice. also personally on rock vocals id have a little more top. they need to jump out the speakers and strangle you. saying that the mastering process will help with that.

the snare isnt a bad sound, its a nice level in the mix, id try a bit of heavy compression but with a slightly longer attack, try something in the region of 10ms attack with a ratio of 6:1 or so, it will take some experimenting but u want to let more of the initial transient through than the tail, aim for more of a 'KAH' sound rather than a Tsssh, the tssh will come from the hi-hat. I also like the stereo depth of the drums in the track. the acoustic guitar sits nicely off to the side aswell.

Try some of that out and get back with another sample if you can.

Hi, I just fell in here looking for advice on mastering and followed the link to your song. ØI'm not going to comment on the mix, that's not what I want to say. But I DO wanna say the song really made me happy! Really good music. If you have a CD I would by it. It's just wonderful to listen to.

I guess that's what I wanted to say. If u can, tell me the name of the band.

Rock on,,,

Hey! Smile

Paul, thank u for the comment! I will upload a new sample tomorrow , with final corrections (I hope) Smile
I found better snare and kick samples (the drum is programed), so I think it will do it! And YES, I also think that vocals need some presence ( 5K boost ) . I still need some advice for mastering compression on the song (attack, release, ratio) so if u can help, I would be very happy! Thanx!

Frank, I appreciate your compliments. Very Happy The band's name is Euthanasia, we are from Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina). Soon, we will finish this PROMO 2007 CD (3 songs), u'll be able to download it from www.myspace.com/euthanasiasarajevo in about 15 days when the site and songs are ready! I don't know yet when are we going to finish the entire album, but u can check the news on our web.

Thanx again guys!
Steff

Final Version  Reply with quote

OK! Very Happy Here it is! I think that this is the final version.
Please tell me is it OK (Considering that it is done on a PC with PreSonus FireBox, some plug-ins and a pair of Genelecs) heh

Thanx
Stefan

Snare Verb, Vocals, Mastering  Reply with quote

Spot of plate reverb on the snare, bring up the vocals 1db or so to compensate (for when its mastered), then master it and jobs a good'un. Nice one Stefan

Thanx Smile
Ok, I can give some abmience to the snare, but the thing is - there is not enough money for any more mastering. Sad The sample I uploaded - That's it. I did what I could Confused

Anyway, I'll let u guys know when all 3 songs r finished, so u can download them, relax and enjoy the music (trying not to think about the mix) heheh
