Recording Vocals on left and Right channel  Reply with quote

Hi

Great Forum you have here

I am very new to rcording and have got very confused with stero vocal recording

I have Hi Spec PC, adobe audition, Mackie Onyx Satellite Firewire Audio Interface with Shure sm57 mic

When recording vocals on the xlr (input 1) on the Mackie I seem to be only recording vocals on the left channel in Adobe Audition I have selected stereo input and output on adobe sound settings

How can I get vocals on the left and right when recording

Thanks
Dave

Stereo is two channels or sources of sound. You cannot record stereo with 1 microphone (unless its a stereo mic). If you want to record stereo you need two microhpones. There are many ways of doing this.

But what you need to do, is create a mono track and not a stereo track for recording your vocals. This will place it centre and you can then pan the audio left or right etc.
