Does anyone know if it is possible to midi sync 2 md8 machines to give you 16 live tracks at once?

Midi Sync  Reply with quote

Bit of a problem here, the MD8 is capable of using MMC (Midi machine control) which would let you sync the two together to a certain degree (it would not be perfect due to drift). however, the MD8 is only capable of transmitting midi data and not receiving it.

so the short answer is NO.

you could in theory get a unit that generates Timecode and record this onto track 8 of each machine, and then use a DAW to sync them back together, but then if you are going to do that u might aswell just buy a 16channel soundcard or a different recording.

This is just going on what ive found on the net, so apologies for any errors.

Hello Paul
Thanks for the info...My goal is to be able to record 16 live tracks and I really like the way the MD8 operates. Unfortunately all of the 16 track recorders I have seen will only do 8 tracks at a time.
Oh well
Thanks again and Merry Christmas
