Cool Edit Pro 2 - tinny playback- problems  Reply with quote

I am quite new to all this, but when I record any music (guitar and vocal) it sounds fine on the computer and fine on my hi-fi, but really tinny and hissy and not very clear on my mp3 player (it is the same on other players)- Is there anyway I can resolve this. I have tried Click/pop Eliminator and hiss reduction, but nothing works, I feel like giving up. Where am I going wrong?

Codec woes  Reply with quote

well for a start, you are playing it on an MP3 player. lol. its never going to sound good. but if its really bad maybe its something else. do you use the same pair of earphones on each mp3 player youve tried? if so change them and see.

if its definately your track thats the problem, try a different file format and see if it improves. you may just be using a rubbish codec. also check the settings when you save. you should be using 192kbps as a minimum for MP3.

mp3's dont sound tinny etc just cause they're mp3's. theres more than likely a problem with the way you export or bounce it down. what settings did you record at? effects you used? these can all play a role in the problem. do other commercial mp3's sound the same on the mp3 players? i doubt it. Although .wav or Aiff is still a more standard format to bounce to. peace.
