Week 7 - Practical  Reply with quote

Ok, you should find a file with some audio files inside at this address;
http://www.audiocourses.com/part3//week7/samplers.zip
Please do the following for the appropriate files;

loop1 - edit to create a smooth rolling 4/4 beat paying attention to timing and zero crossings
loop2 - extract the following one shot samples - kick drum, snare drum, closed hat, open hat.
loop3 - find tempo of this loop
loop4 - identify the root note of this sample.

Good luck and any questions post them in this thread!
cheers,
ben m

loop troubles  Reply with quote

Ben,
I'm having troubling editing loop 1. When I take something out, it pushes everything forward in the tempo in EZ Editor, so it's changing the bpm.

Hi Nancy,
i'm not au fait with EZ Editor so I can't give very specific advice.
Don't worry too much about the BPM reading int he audio editor as this is usually based on the length of the sample as it not usually accurate unless you manually tell the application the number of beats/bars in the loop.
Do you have any other audio editing software you could try it in?
By the way, I listened to your one shots and they are all good except for the snare which is slightly too long - at the end of the snare hit you can hear an additional hit. The closed hat is very good though.
Let me know how you get on,
ben m
