| Week 3 - Practical |

Classical Edit
The object of this practical is to:
· Familiarise yourself with the operation of your dedicated digital audio editor
· Learn how to record and edit classial samples
· Learn how to combine voice with music
· Understand how to work within a rigid niche and target audience
· Be able to convert to differing formats such as mp3
Equipment:
Headphones
Wav file – classicaledit.zip
Your PC and software
Microphone
Coffee
Procedure:
·
Download the sample (CLICK HERE)
and unzip it (it’s large so may take a while)
· Open the sample in a digital audio editor
· Decide which segments to use and copy them into separate files, saving each one with a useful name.
· Start to edit together your pieces to create 29 seconds
· Record your voice section
· Name, trim clean up as necessary
· Apply any finishing touches as necessary, such as e.q. etc.
· Convert to 128k mp3
· Upload for your tutors to check
From the live Workshops discussion and subsequent chat you are to achieve the following:
1. An individually conducted classical music edit
2. Broadcast suitable 128K mp3 in stereo with mono compatibility
3. Duration bang on 29 secs
4. Uploaded by Friday to your folder, as a ZIP file, in the correct week.
Assessment Criteria
Pass (C)
The candidate has completed the task fully by the specified deadline
· The candidate has behaved in a professional and polite manner
· The specified task has been performed fully
· The content is adequate
· The work is to AudioCourses.com minimum standards
· The recording approaches professional standards
· There are no obvious faults
Merit (B)
The candidate has achieved the above plus:
· The candidate has communicated well within the team
· All presentation is neat and accurate
· The content is good both technically and creatively
· The recording is of a professional standard
Distinction (A)
The candidate has achieved the above plus:
· Teamwork, application and attitude is outstanding
· Individual perspective and reports are outstanding
· The work / product is impressive with a high quality look and feel
· The creative content of the recording is particularly good
· All deadlines set by tutors are met
