Mixing/Mastering for FM Radio  Reply with quote

HELP!

My band's music which I record and master myself (I will list the gear below) is getting some airplay. Here is the problem. I am hearing a horible distorted rendition of our music coming over FM. I mean it is lifeless and distorted - horrible. But the master cd sounds perfect. I have heard that the stations "Phase Rotator" could be a problem and that engineers need to produced a "special" radio mix bypassing mastering processors like L1, L2 which use brute force limiting (although they do look ahead). Any advise is appreciated. Here is the gear:

Tracked with DIGI 001 at 24/48 (could be a problem??)
Using ProToools for tracking/mixing
Using Reason 2.5 through rewire (I know that the samples arent 24/48 but 44/16, maybe more problems here?)
All the mix tracks are clean with no disortion or clipping.

I put a Waves Linear Multiband Compressor in the master chain
Then the Waves L2

I get an awesome sounding cd mix - but this thing is no good over FM radio.

Thanks!
