we are moving into a new building so most of our equipment including my precious allen & Heath (and am know suffering withdrawal symptoms) so weve been using a mackie SR24-4 in the mean time which is normally used for monitors. But one day i went into the hall and the technician was leaning over it and said it was broke.

It was sent in for repair and it turned out half the channel strips had been blown up, something to do with the power supply and the main power supplies were fried.

Normally mackies are quite robust, cant wait to get the heath back now, i cant stand the mackie, great mic pre-amps but the rest is crap. (ill probs get a hell of alot of stick for that)

I'm trying to decide between waiting on the new makie onyx and/or looking at ebay for a second hand allen and heath mixwizard.

Build quality will be a big deciding factor, as i'll be using it for a small PA rig. so it's got to survive, all in a mixer/rack case.

your heath's home and doing well, i trust? Rolling Eyes

ill give it one thing, you dont get much tougher than a mackie, they build them like tanks. They often test the prototypes by dropping them out of the office window!!

But Allen & heaths are built solidly electronically and as long as you dont beat the preverbial crap out of them they will last for ever

P.S. i get the heath back on monday after next. Plus a 56 channel patch is being installed, which is odd seeing as ive only got a 40 channel mixer. I was thinking of using a seperate mixer for the drums and taking the output of that into a channel on the heath, but ill see how it goes.

Just an update, the heath is in its new home and singing beautifully. except for one thing, there is leakage from the Cd player into the main output even when muted. Which isnt great, it seems to be a combination of the mixer and the cables. seeing as literally everything is multicore and all running close together through trunking in the ceiling.

Apart from that its great. The mackie has been relocated to the new television studio much to my disapproval as i now have no foldback mixer. im gonna have to nick it back when i do big shows. We are using the old PA as a touring PA and the mackie was supposed to be our touring mixer. But not anymore.
