| Help with singing in cool edit |

Hi all pros, I am a newbie in cool edit pro 2 , so I 've been trying to turn on the rap beat and flow along but i can never record the beat with my voice stereo, if i wanna record everything together , must record through microphone, and that makes it mono sound. I want to do something that record my voice through microphone only and fit wit the stereo beat. Please help. thanks alot |

Hi, I have cool edit pro 2.0 (now adobe audition) for my rap vocals as well, I think I might be able to help you with it. I noticed this about cool edit 2.0 as well, it records it to mono, and it will only come out of one speaker or head phone (the vocal track that is), well, to make it come out of both, right click on the track, next click, mix down to mono. As for recording into stereo I think you may not be able to do that, but if you do it the way I just described you can achieve high quality audio. Is that what you wanted to do, make it come out of both speakers? Let me know.

i have adobe audition too, i and it blows cool edit 2.0 away. i would suggest you using that instead cause it records stereo too. also, its much easier to mix different tracks to gethere and put diferent effects by clicking that sound wave icon on the top right. its like a mix between acid pro4 and cool edit. easy and great. i would recomend it to everyone |

and i also like it best out of all the software i have, cool edit, acid pro, and cubas vst. its just amazing |

I recorded in stereo in cooledit pro from version 1.0 to audition 1.5 all versions will record in stereo.
you need to clic the "record devices" button in your multitrack view (it looks like a grey box that says rec 1" and make sure you have stereo clicked instead of mono.

I know this isnt particularly relevant but i refuse to upgrade from CEP 2.1 to adobe audition, because adobe have commercialised it too much, for example there is little user support and they have closed loopology.com
i have used Adobe Audition quite alot recently though, and there is nothing i have found that you can do in audition that you cant do in 2.1 as long as you have a couple of plug-ins most of which are free.
anyone agree?

actually, I thought 2.1 didn't support .VST plug-ins. Also I've found that audition fixes a few bugs from 2.1, and that effects processing takes less time.
but you could be right. |

Nope ive used my VST plugins on both 2.0 and 2.1 no problem.
As far as i can tell if it works in cubase it will work on cool edit.

 stereo has nothing to do with your settings on the DAW. i assume your using a single mic? (Condenser? Dynamic?) if this is the case a mic outputs only a mono signal. you can NEVER convert a mono to stereo. it starts at the source. to record stereo you have to have two mics. try a matched pair of condensers. (factory matched frequency response). many people take two mono signals and pan them hard left/right to create a "stereo" effect but this is still not true stereo. |
