Hi, i have just upgraded my computer and there seems to be a problem with burning from an audio montage. When the cd burning dialogue box comes up i cannot select my drive as it is not showing any drives.
The drive is a DVD rewritable and using other software im able to burn music to CD with no problem. Sad

Any help or patches or alteranative solutions would be most appreciated

Thanks

I've got exactly the same problem and just found this site from a Google search whilst hoping to find a solution - somebody please help us!

I've just migrated Wavelab 4 from a PC running ME to a new one running XP. The old ME machine found the CD writer no problem but on the new machine it can find it to read from (e.g. in CD copy mode) but not to write to. My drive is a DVD rewritable too but the old one was a DVD reader/CD rewriter.

Any ideas please?

OK guys I've done some looking around and it seems it's not an un commom problem.

You might want to try the updates found here:

updates

Also here
drivers

In there you will find some zip files which contain information about CD DVDr compatibility.

Make sure yours are on the list.

Let us know.

Hi Guy's,

If your CD/DVD burner does not show in the devices drop down in Wavelab,
then you need to download and install the CD recording devices update from the Steinberg site. Even then it will only correct the issue if your recording device is included in the update. There is a list of supported devices also for download from the site. I had to do this for my device as I had the same problem as you guys, and after installing the update all was fine. Very Happy
look for the download at the bottom of this page:
DOWNLOAD UPDATES
Hope this helps.
Regards, Jules Wink (Ourgate Studios)

YES!! It works!

Thanks Prod Ad and Jules.

I was not helped by the link to the supported devices list and downloads not working from the old ME machine (don't know why that should be - it works fine on the internet otherwise but it came up page 'page unavailable DNS error') but I got them OK on the PC in my office and transferred the zip files over on one of those little data sticks. The new music computer is not internet enabled so as to keep it as uncluttered as poss.

My DVD/CD drive was listed on there and it all works fine after applying the zipped patch.

Well done and thanks again.

Gerbils

P.S. Did you get yours sorted OK Babyface?
