| Cubase sx with rewire Reason |
|
|
Hi
I'm using an E-MU 0404 sound card.
Iam using M-Audio O2 midi controller.
Cubase SX runs fine.
Reason runs fine.
I open Cubase then Reason and Rewire is set up in Reason.
When I click play on either transport my song from Reason plays.
How do I get the Reason synths to play using the O2 midi keyboard through Rewire and Cubase
?
I can play the VST instruments from Cubase while the song from Reason plays.
but I want to play the Reason synths, sequencers, etc through Rewire to Cubase. as it stands now the Reason out will not play through ReWire or Cubase.
Also, how do I record from Reason to Cubase using Rewire.
I am guessing these things can be done using the various busses but after hours of reading and poking around, no luck.
any help will be appreciated!
thanks

Okay, you want to control the Reason instruments through Rewire right?
In rewire mode, Cubase is master and Reason is slave (thats why Reason is always opened after Cubase). So basically, whatever MIDI messages are sent from your M-Audio O2 controller needs to go to Reason via Cubase, just like how your VST instruments work.
So your first step: Send messages from Cubase to Reason. To do this, create a MIDI track with the inputs as your O2 and your outputs as your Reason instruments (you will find your Reason instrument list when you click on the track output menu).
Your second step: You need to route the audio outs from Reason back in to Cubase (since you naturally need to hear what you have and maybe also mix, proces, etc..). To do this, go to the 'Devices' menu in Cubase and click on 'Reason'. A pop up will now appear asking you to chose which audio outputs of Reason to activate. Probably you may have a Mixer in your Reason session and have the LR outs of the mixer connected to Reason channel 1 and 2 out. So activate this in your Reason pop-up window in Cubase.
Now everytime you need to hear what you are triggering off your controller, simply put that particular MIDI track on monitor.
Happy music making.. |

I just had a go, it doesnt have a record enable option!? Just write and read enable, Ive had a go at both but still cant get the volume auto off. I looked at the track control settings on the channel and it says read enable is there but I can seem to select it............ |
