PLease Help im going crazy  Reply with quote

im a new protools LE user, im a cakewalk sonar user. im trying to learn protools , since most of the studio out there, use protools. but i got this lil' problem, i could get around it but, But is taking to many tracks. my problem is that when you got a chorus that when it repeats, the start of the chorus overlap the end of the chorus, and because of the i have to duplicate all chorus tracks.

THE MOST COMMON WAY
[/img]

If i put them is the same change, the vocals cut each other.

Overlap chorus

see, in SONAR i could put a vocal on top of the other without replacing it..

Is there anyway to do this.

sorry my english is really bad.

Bouncing tracks  Reply with quote

That is just how pro tools works, and it makes sense because it keeps edits clean.

the only way around that is to bounce down some of the tracks into a stereo file then import it back again, will save you alot of tracks and also tidy up your edit window as once the balance of the vocals is set you shouldnt need to change it. once you have made the bounce you can select the vocal tracks and make them 'inactive' and then hide them, that way they will not eat up your track count but you will have them there if you need to make any changes.

hope that helps

Track List  Reply with quote

on the left hand side of the edit window there is a list of the tracks, if you cant see it, in the bottom left hand corner there is a little chevron button looks like a >> click that and it will open the track list.

then you just click on the track to hide it, click again to show it. very important to keep your session organised. you can also rearrange tracks by dragging the labels in the track list.

Crossfade  Reply with quote

Or you can right click the track and select 'Hide and Make Inactive'.

If the overlap isn't too long you could cross-fade the two regions (using an equal gain crossfade - Select the area and hit Ctrl+F)
