cool edit convert to mp3  Reply with quote

I tried to convert an audio file or session file to mp3 and it says mpeg audio layer or something. Then mp3 in parentheses. Then I read elsewhere that mpeg is pro somethingorother, is a supported mp3 file or something, but in any case, myspace only takes mp3s and it must not be one because it won't upload to myspace.

How can I convert mpeg to mp3? Burn it to a cd? I have a cd-burner though I haven't been able to get it to work yet. Do I need cd-burning software of some kind and is it free anywhere?

At one point I downloaded nch to convert a midi file to mp3 but the quality was godawful. I'm guessing that anything going through nch is going to ruin the audio quality.

It seems so frustrating that cool edit pro or any recording software would not have a simple, standard mp3 format. That's unfathomable to me. I must be doing something wrong. It must be me. It doesn't seem possible that they wouldn't know better.

Fraunhoffer MP3  Reply with quote

cool edit pro saves as a fraunhoffer (sp) MP3 which is exactly what you want.

if u set the bit rate correctly and it still doesnt work, there is a problem with myspace. after all fraunhoffer invented the MP3.

Thank you. I'll try again.

Is mpeg the same as mp3 then? When I save it as mp3 it says it's a mpeg.

Yes that right, MP3 stands for MPEG Audio Layer 3.

MPEG being the Motion Picture Experts Group.
