This isn't exactly a normal or common profession. How do I land jobs? the problem is that I don't have the money for any quality gear or a studio, and if I work full time doing other trades I will become distracted from my goals and set my self back many steps. I have volunteered my services in the past , but my resume kind of sucks from a scholastic standpoint so I'm stuck doing mcjobs for a while.
I'm not going to go to school and work for other people so I can pay off debts for 5-10 years, and besides I suck at school.
My question: is it possible to start up a small business as an audio engineer or home studio? meaning, can I approach a bank and the government with a business plan and outlined requests for grants and loans? has anybody ever started a small business? where do I start?

well in scotland we have this thing called a business gateway and they pretty much help you set up a small business and give you a grant to do so.
dunno if that helps at all but could try n have a look for something like that

yeah that's a good idea... did you get a loan from the bank or did you have some start up money saved?
