| Voiceover suggestions needed |
|
|
I'm a newbie to voiceover recording. I'm trying to get the right sound in my basic closet "studio" set up. I'm quite sure that I've made the studio too dry, and would like to achieve a slight natural reverb, but without adding effects. I'm trying to find the proper material for a sounding board that I can set up to bounce my voice back just a bit.
I really don't want to fix this in the mix. I want to get a good sound at the source.
I'll be trying different materials, of course, but would love to get a few suggestions as to what material might be best to use. Obviously, a metal cookie sheet, for example, wouldn't produce a good sound. I'm thinking that a shiny wooden board might be a good idea.
Am I crazy, on track, or does anyone have any suggestions? (Note that I am poor, and will have to use something readily available and cheap.)
Many thanks! |

just add a good artificial reverb in the mix, only needs to be 0.2 seconds long or so, a nice room verb is what you need.
forget trying to get a nice natural reverb in a small room, youll just end up with weird reflections if you start adding surfaces. |

Thanks!
Actually, I think what I'm going to do is move out of my closet. I have a room (not the bathroom) with a very nice sound--not too boomy, but really nice. As long as I can keep the rest of the house quiet, that should work better than anything else, and I can get a good sound at the source.
More room to move, too. The closet is a bit too cramped.
