the role of external outboard eqipment for live sound [help]
im currently doing a course in sound production and wonder what peoples views where on what they thought the main role of out board gear was in a live situation, any replies would be helpful with the essay im currently doing.
all i kno of outboard gear for live sound is just the usual, FOH EQ, compression and maybe a bit of reverb but other than that i dont have much of an idea,
anyone got any ideas?
thanks

look at system processing stuff like dolby lake and BSS soundweb etc.
essentially outboard is for doing something that your desk CANT do or that you want to do differently/better. say an EQ that sounds a bit difference or a compressor thats more transparent.
With digital desks its rare that youll see outboard.
