| Home recording setup help |

Hey guys, I've got a lot of questions about a home recording set up. First off let me state that I know very little about recording equipment, so please excuse my ignorance. I've recently been spending a lot of time writing music and just jamming, and to record my ideas down just for the sake of not loosing them, I've been forced to use just my built in laptop mic and audacity (yikes!). Terrible sound quality obviously, but now I'm looking into getting a better setup. I'm NOT looking to record anything really high quality, just decent demo quality.
I've been looking at equipment, but I'm not sure if it's even what I need, so I'll give some links so you guys can give me some feedback...

Right now, all the stuff I record is going to be 1) vocals and 2) either an acoustic or electric guitar (electric running on my combo amp) depending on the song. Also I'd like the option of expanding to a second guitar, bass and drums.
What I'm thinking in my mind is that I'll be able to have two mics plugged into the mixer, one I'll be singing into, and the other will be on my acoustic guitar or amplifier, and then I'll be able to send the output from the mixer into my computer via a double male 3.5mm chord and record using audacity. My question now is if that is even what the equipment is built to do, is that possible, or am I just completely wrong?
I'm not looking to invest a fortune here, and that setup is AROUND what I'm looking to invest, but I could go more to get some other stuff if necessary. Please help me out in understanding what I need to get this stuff working! Thanks so much |
