115. Studying with AudioCourses is life and career enriching

Prior to enrolling in any of the Audio Courses modules, a student should be aware that the courses are extremely comprehensive. In the School Reception area of the forums at ACF+, a prospective student is encouraged to download and read the Proforma and the Programme Specifications for the respective modules. I did not do this until near the end of the Recording Techniques module (ACRT03) and well after the end of the Music Technology module (ACMT03).

After carefully reviewing the course specifications, I realized that every aspect of the specifications was covered in great detail and depth besides a wealth of (what seemed at the time) extemporary subjects and issues that a recording engineer may encounter. Even though there was very seldom a specific heading for (i.e.) phase issues, the subject was nonetheless covered extensively with supporting documents. For a motivated student, the beauty of studying with AC is there is no limit as to the depth and breadth of information a student may encounter and process. The student must, though, be very self-motivated.

For the motivated student, the courses at AC are just the ticket for success. There is no better confidence builder than to realize that you have independently utilized the guidance from the courses to delve into the information available from around the world. This may be a distance-learning environment, but one quite never feels there is any part or parcel of distance when studying with AC. The invaluable production assistance is always just seconds away, and any question one may have is quickly answered. Perhaps not in the manner one may expect, but the answer is always pointed to either by a link, another perspective or a thought-provoking question to help flesh out the answer. Then there are the practical assignments.

The ‘practicals’ prove to be the most provocative tests of a student’s mettle. Oh sure, the assignment may be to make a 30-second advert for a particular product, but much more goes into the exercise than just doing a voice-over. Although doing an advert was not on the Programme Specifications list, it entailed editing, using a different genre of music than rock or rap, designing the advert for a niche market and so on and so on. Just invaluable practice and the type of work the recording engineer will be asked to do in a studio environment. These exercises are where the confidence comes from. Knowing that whatever may be requested, demanded, required or expected in the workplace and having the experience and skill set to get the task completed certainly builds confidence.

These courses are not easy. They will test you, put a strain on your cognitive abilities and stretch your imagination. But, nothing worthwhile in life is easy. The best guitar player in the world must practice diligently to be successful. The greatest singer must study and practice till they are sick to death of hearing their own voice. But when they step into the studio or on stage, their confidence level guarantees success. It is no different with scholastic study. The benefits one receives from study with Audio Courses are directly commiserate with the efforts invested in your studies. Put in the work, take the direction offered at Audio Courses, and you will be successful. Don’t take my word for it. Look at other educational institutions and you will find (as I have) that AC has no peer. So, what are you waiting for? Life long learning enriches life, and if one really wants to succeed in the field of recording, jump-start or enrich the skills you already have. You will never regret it.
