Richard Chaplow - Rico1210

Country: England

Richard Chaplow, audiocourses.com graduate. City & Guilds syllabus seen on the wall behind. My present job is as a Financial Systems Development Assistant for a Local Authority.
At present I am looking to find work in a Recording Studio, Radio Station or Television Studio.

My interests include Music Production (using drum machines & synthesizers as well as software such as Reason, Cubase and T-Racks), DJ’ing, Computer Technology, Video Games, Snowboarding and anything to do with Music.

My favourite musical genres are HipHop, Drum & Bass, BreakBeat, Rock and Independent.

I have previously performed live Drum & Bass DJ sets and would like to continue to do so on a larger scale.
My long-term goal is to become an independent record producer and to further my DJ career.

There are no such things as good and bad music. There are only opinions!

Rachel Huggins - rachelh

Country: Trinidad

Rachel from TrinidadI am a singer/ songwriter/ producer/ arranger from Trinidad West Indies.

I chose to do the City & Guilds course, as I believed that it would have opened up many doors in the music industry to me …and at the end of it all I have gained considerable depth of knowledge in the sound engineering field and look forward with confidence toward my future career opportunities.

I am currently working on recording, producing and arranging my music as well as various forms of musical experimentation. My ambitions range from working as a sound engineer at a major recording studio to opening up my own publishing company and recording label.

This is really the beginning of a new era for me and I look forward with confidence to what the future has in store.

For twenty years I have been working with bands. Either doing sound, recording, writing for or playing in the band. I did sound for The Squirrel Nut Zippers in the mid 1990’s when they were just doing wedding receptions and parties.

I remember piecing together PA systems in high school for big parties that included a band that latter became Hooty and the blow fish. I played bass in a bluegrass band that did four shows a day for three months at Leo Foo Village in Taiwan and toured in Bavaria and The Chek Republic as part of a folk duo called Driftwood (that was the all washed up tour). An alternative country band called WAKE kept me busy in the 90’s as well. We toured the east coast of the US extensively and in 1998 we were invited to play at the NEMO music showcase and conference in boston (during a monster snow storm). In 2000 I joined a rock band called ‘something else’ and we did shows in central California. This band was fortunate enough to open for bands like Los Lobos ( twice), North Mississippi Allstars and Tag Mahal as well as create a mighty following in Santa Cruz CA, USA. In 2001 I was introduced to the computer music world and I haven’t looked back much since. I now love recording on cubase, editing on soundforge, mastering the tapes that I make of live bands and putting together drum beats. Thanks to Audiocourses.com I can still enjoy music without hauling around heavy equipment. Since completing the courses I have already mastered a demo for a friends band and they are pleased with the attention I gave it. So, while working at a natural food market and squeezing in around of disc golf here and there, I will keep on doing the music thing. But now with more knowledge.

"The learners (from all over the world) had a lot of influence on me. Its good to hear how others learn and communicate with them about it."

"The module discussions cemented the whole experience. I looked forward to the workshops on Sunday. The interaction kept me on the right track."

"This was the a great deal of fun and will do it again with another course at audiocourses.com."

"Both Chris and Ben were most helpful and cared about the students requests"

"Although the assignments were a challenge, it was a ‘make it hurt so good’ kind of situation. I learned a lot."

"The students did create a community, time permitting. Without this community we would of struggled a bit more."
